The University of Alberta is pleased to announce the opening of the Artificial Intelligence Discovery Place (AIDP), located on the southwest corner of the first floor of Enterprise Square. This cutting-edge hub leverages Amazon Web Services cloud computing technology to U of A’s leading researchers to collaborate, advance research and commercialize products and services to address industry, government and societal challenges.
Who the Space Serves
AIDP is dedicated to connecting entrepreneurs, students, government officials, local businesses, and organizations across Alberta to address societal and community challenges using advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
What the Space Offers
- AI Literacy: Education and discovery to build understanding of artificial intelligence and its applications through an interactive exhibit.
- Events & Workshops: Hands-on workshops to explore AWS tools and opportunities to to attend events and challenges that inspire and connect participants with AI experts and industry leaders.
- Research & Entrepreneurial Support: Access resources to leverage AWS technology and cloud computing credits for accelerating innovative ideas and bringing them to market.

AWS Cloud Credits for U of A Startups & Researchers
Are you an AI startup or researcher developing cloud-based tools at the University of Alberta?
The U of A is an official AWS Activator Provider and through AIDP, 10 U of A-affiliated startups or research projects will be selected to each receive $1,000 in AWS cloud credits to accelerate their work.
Ideal for those who are:
- Developing cloud-based applications and tools
- Moving research workloads or datasets to the cloud
- Training others on using cloud resources for research through workshops or tutorials
